Part 2/2
“As I said, I was fortunate it was dark. If he does that to a child, God knows what he could do to a woman, but when I started yelling it was like the entire neighborhood awoke from its slumber. It was like a volcano waiting to explode and I triggered it! People couldn't take it anymore and everyone started yelling at him too.
There was a hair salon right beside the garage surrounded by men, friends of a groom waiting for his bride in the salon. As soon as the men heard the commotion, they left the poor bride and ran to protect the boy and tackle down the father.
Soon after, an old man known in our neighborhood approached the father asking him if he can handle even one hit of that log.
You know what was his response?
He said I'm raising my child!
RAISING HIS CHILD!
The groom and his friends threatened him, while more women and men scolded and yelled from their windows shaming him.
The next day he was fired although he was later hired somewhere else. The good thing is, he is now never seen with his boy at the same place, but God knows what happens within the walls of their house.
People complain at how our society came to be like this - so immoralist.
You know what is the first thing we study in first year university Sociology and Social Work? Unemployment and poverty.
But it's more than that. Peoples' hearts are sick. The previous generation grew up abused, sexually assaulted, poor, and continuously struggling and they pass it on to our generation. Only this time our population is double or triple the previous. People need to heal their souls and hearts, but they are not given the chance to or maybe they just don't want to anymore.
When a young boy grows beaten like this in a broken home, how do you think he'll grow to be like?
May God have mercy on us."
